LA GUERNICA

HM-ART1030- Acrylic on canvas 200x100cm- ARTIST YANNICK CHRISTIAENS- 2016

Inspired by Pablo Picasso’s Guernica, this work reflects the devastation of war and the collective anguish carried by humanity in times of violence and destruction. Fragmented bodies, distorted faces, and anguished figures collide within a fractured composition where fear, pain, and confusion become inseparable.

The monochromatic palette intensifies the emotional gravity of the scene, stripping away distraction and focusing entirely on suffering itself. Humans and animals alike appear trapped within a world collapsing under brutality and chaos.

More than a historical reference, the work remains painfully timeless. It speaks of the recurring cycles of conflict that continue to wound civilizations, reminding us that beyond politics and ideology, war ultimately fractures the human spirit itself.
