PRECISION IN CORTEN AND STAINLESS STEEL

Structure. Balance. Movement.

Corten steel and stainless steel are cut, welded and balanced until rigid structures begin to suggest movement.

What attracted me to these works was the contradiction.

The material is industrial and hard.

Yet the sculptures can feel remarkably light.

SCULPTURAL LANGUAGE

WHEN STEEL BEGINS TO MOVE

Steel is associated with strength, construction and weight.

But here, lines replace mass.

Open structures allow light and landscape to pass through them. An eagle built from welded steel can suddenly appear ready to take flight.

That contradiction fascinates me:

the strength of the material and the lightness of the form.

That is what drew me to these works.

“Heavy enough to last. Light enough to fly.”

HM PRIVATE COLLECTION

SCULPTURES IN STEEL

A collection of original sculptures in Corten and Stainless steel, selected over the years for their strength, balance and presence.

Some are monumental.

Others are surprisingly delicate.

But each of them made me stop and look twice.

Selected works from this collection are available for acquisition.

Where Structure Escapes Gravity

High above HM Gallery 196, a monumental Eagle spreads its wings almost six metres across the sky, watching over the vineyards of Torres Vedras, north of Lisbon.

This is Eagle’s Nest.

What began as a sculpture has become the guardian — and the symbol — of this place.
