Freedom is the power or right to act, speak, and change as one wants without hindrance or restraint. Freedom is often associated with liberty and autonomy in the sense of “giving oneself one’s own laws”
Climbing is the activity of using one’s hands, feet, or other parts of the body to ascend a steep topographical object that can range from the world’s tallest mountains to small boulders. Climbing is done indoors and outdoors, on natural surfaces and on artificial surfaces in order to reach higher targets.
196 Freedom Climbers refer to 196 couples who, despite the many challenges, obstacles and setbacks, keep rising to feel ‘free’ in their actions and ultimately want to fly like an eagle again.
Some couples and their original relationships are still intact, others unfortunately not anymore. Their bodies suffered wounds to their hearts and scars to their minds. But they persevere with their heads straight ahead.
Most sculptures are intact, some sculptures are slightly deformed.
