JAN DESMARETS
Raw, Tactile Roughness and Tension
Jan Desmarets creates sculptures where raw material, absence and human imagination converge.
Through rough textures and fragmented forms, his works reveal strength not through perfection, but through suggestion.

SCULPTURAL LANGUAGE
Absence Becomes Expression
Jan Desmarets explores sculpture through reduction rather than completion. By deliberately removing portions of material, he allows emptiness and fragmentation to become part of the artwork itself.
Rough surfaces, visible textures and fractured forms give his sculptures a powerful tactile presence. Rather than imposing a finished image, his works invite the viewer to mentally reconstruct the form through imagination and perception.
This balance between absence and presence creates sculptures that feel instinctive, physical and deeply human — where raw material becomes emotion.
“Suggestion is stronger than completion.”
